Franconia Street north of Mullen Avenue

  • Neighborhood: Bernal Heights
  • Location: From the end of the dead-end block of Franconia Street south of Peralta Avenue to Mullen Avenue
  • Height: 15 feet

Stairs up to the top of a retaining wall on the north side of Mullen Avenue. The retaining wall is painted in a badly faded and worn red, green, and black design. The wall has been painted for at least 40 years, and originally also included yellow, which has completely faded away.

Probably built in 1931, if a contractor's stamp in the concrete is anything to go by.
