The gardens on this block, the tiled stairs, and murals at the bottom of the stairs are all the work of the Quesada Gardens Initiative. The tiles on the stairs were painted by neighborhood children and were installed in 2015.

The stairs were built in 1920, when the street was graded and split into two levels with a planted median.
